Representation
eica has a valuable reputation as a source of support and knowledge for members who are experiencing temporary or longer term difficulties. This may range from simple advice through to reduced rate support and assistance in dealing with regulators, staffing or other matters.
Criminal Records Bureau and POVA Checks
The Association is a Registered Body for the Criminal Records Bureau scheme and provides this service for all members. Members benefit from one of the lowest administration charges in the Country and many have covered their membership cost with their first batch of criminal records checks.
Staff Training and Development
Keeping skills fresh and up-to-date is a pivotal area in our industry and that’s why we provide all members with free access to a range of training materials. In addition, our regular breakfast briefings provide an opportunity not only for members to meet but also a forum to discuss current issues, legislation and other relevant ‘hot’ topics. eica has been able to access significant training and development funds to assist providers in reaching appropriate National Minimum Standards for their particular services. Since 1999 this has included support for induction, LDAF foundation and NVQ training. In 2003 a very ambitious and well-received programme of training for Dementia Awareness at all levels in both residential care and homecare was delivered. The Association plays a major part in the distribution of grants of almost £1m to the independent sector to assist in staff development. The Association can help you to access those funds and in turn grow your business.
Regular e-bulletin
An e-bulletin is available to all members who have provided an email address and who have access to an email account. The e-bulletin provides headline information about developments in social care and links to more detailed information. It also highlights new initiatives within Essex Independent Care Association and how member benefits are being continually assessed and improved.
