About us

What we do

The independent sector is the largest provider of social care within the County of Essex. It is therefore vital that the viewpoints and the representation of the largest provider are coherent.

The strong relationships that eica has formed with major purchasers allow for both detailed engagement in setting contract structure and more strategic developments such as capacity planning.

Regionally, eica works with the Commission for Social Care Inspection to represent the position of independent providers within the County. This includes increasing understanding in the areas of regulation, training and staff development encouraging positive dialogue with both the local and regional offices of the regulators.

Nationally, the Association takes the opportunity to comment on developments within the industry. This has included evidence to the House of Commons Select Committee on issues such as delayed discharges and minimum standards. It has also meant that the Association’s expertise and influence, in areas such as Protection of Vulnerable Adults, has been reflected in work developed by the Department of Health and Department for Education and Skills.
